I'm eschewing my annual creative retreat - I had planned to go back to Cebu - and am just spending the holidays at my parents' place. The parol is the Filipino Christmas lantern, meant to symbolize the star of Bethlehem and traditionally hung by the windows, outside homes, and generally wherever else you can hang stuff.
